If your garage door won’t close, there are a few potential reasons.
Obstruction and Clutter. This is the first thing to check. There are sensors strategically placed to keep your garage door from hitting obstacles that may be in the path of the door closing. Sometimes seemingly harmless things as leaves or spider webs may tell your sensors that closing should be stopped. You may need to take a broom and brush away any potential problem. When it’s a sensor issue, the door may stop closing and immediately open back up. There are cases when the sensors aren’t properly adjusted, and they think the floor is an obstruction. So, the door closes and then immediately opens back up. If you are a do-it-yourselfer you will need to consult the manufacturer’s manual for instructions as to re-adjust your sensors. For most of us, it may be better to call a pro for a quick fix. (In the Phoenix area, call 602-672-1418) Other Issues. Other possible issues include a problem with the tracks and rollers. Other problems we encounter are broken springs, tracks that aren’t properly aligned and issues with tension springs or cables that are broken. There can also be issues with transmitter batteries that are dead, and other transmitter issues.
